Belles show their class

The Brambletye Belles, a team made up of Old Brambletyeans challenged our 1st Team girls to an indoor hockey match in the Sports Hall last night.

The match was very competitive and some of the best hockey seen all season. The Belles started brightly with two quick goals, but the 1sts pegged them back so that it was honours even at half time. The second half was equally exciting but the Belles experience and power showed and they came out eventual winners 6:3.

After the traditional three cheers, the girls settled down to a match tea and a post match discussion on all manner of subjects.

A rematch is being planned ...

Delighted to Welcome Mr & Mrs Fowler-Watt back

Mr. and Mrs. Brooks welcomed back Mr. and Mrs. Fowler-Watt to Brambletye for lunch. Mr Donald Fowler-Watt was headmaster from 1969-1997. During this time the Swimming Pool, the Squash Courts, the Nevill Field, a new Science Laboratory, the Art and DT rooms and the Library were all built.

Some of the current staff were at Brambletye during the Fowler-Watt era.

Hockey Training at EGHC

This afternoon our Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8 girls all travelled to East Grinstead Hockey Club for a training session.  We trained with Phil Coote (Assistant Manager for the Men's 1st Team) and Heather Batten (Ladies 1st Team player).

After a warm up ...

... we did learned some new passing and 3D skills...

... before applying what we had learned to a game.

A huge thank you to EGHC, Heather and Phil for looking after us. The girls learned so much and it was really good fun. For their positive attitude and brilliant listening, these girls have all been nominated for team of the week by all of the coaches!

New Pupil in 6S is the Headmaster

To better understand how the school day works and what life is like for a Brambletye Pupil, our Headmaster, Mr Brooks spent the whole day with 6S. He went to every lesson, even games and thoroughly enjoyed his day.

Prefects' Breakfast

This morning Mr and Mrs Brooks invited the School Prefects down to their house for breakfast: yoghurt and berries, scrambled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, a croissant and a bit of conversation first thing in the morning made for an excellent start to the day.

Y5 Go in to Battle

Yesterday Year 5 went to the town of Battle in Kent to learn about what really happened in the Battle of Hastings and to re-enact the events on what we think is the original battlefield.

Bandits at 7 O'Clock!

The Bandits and the Brambletye 1st VIII

A fantastic match on Monday evening saw the Bandits (a mixed team of Brambletye Parents, Governors & Staff) scrape a narrow win over the Brambletye 1st VIII.

Marnie, Henry and Freddie all had close matches against their fathers whilst the Bandits were strengthened with the addition of The Headmaster to their ranks.

A superb evening was had by all, and the children are keen to train hard in preparation for the return fixture next term.

Brambletye Pupils meet SA World Cup Players

A select group of senior boys were lucky enough to be invited to watch the South African world cup squad train at their base at Eastbourne College.

Just one week before the Rugby World Cup began the boys were lucky enough to watch a scrummaging session with the forwards and a display on tackling and 'jackaling'!

After this the players moved around all the visitors and the boys got to meet and talk to all the squad with a lot of eager autograph hunting.
